The Petite Trousseau for our little bundles.

I received good news that someone close to home has booked their wedding date at long last. Hurray! So date in the diary, money to save for present and outfits for my fast growing tribe to be bought.
I want to do something special for the wedding gift, as it is a close family member.
The couple already live together and therefore have everything they need to run a home and their lives. Ummmmmmmmmm. Think think…

As a traditionalist it started me thinking about traditional gifts for the celebration of marriage. The Wedding Trousseau, or the bottom drawer present as some people call it. For those of you who don’t know, the Wedding trousseau is the collection or bundle of clothes, house linen and other belongings collected by a bride for her marriage, given by friends and family and derived in the 19th Century. The word Trousseau being taken from the French term trousse, meaning little bundle. These items were kept in the ‘bottom drawer”, or “hope chest”. Hence the name “bottom drawer” gift that is sometimes used.

The term “little bundle” started me thinking about my little bundle, Samson. And whether there was such a thing as a baby trousseau? Wouldn’t it be fabulous to have a list of what you need for the arrival of your baby so that your friends and family could buy you something useful and something you need or something special you would like to treasure.  Instead of receiving 50 bibs and an abundance of new born and 0-3 outfits that are grown out of so quickly.
What a fabulous idea!

SO…………..after we have launched the new website…
u-ni-k gifts will be working on their petit trousseau/little bundles.

To be launched very soon!
