Monday mentor... Father Christmas!

A man known by many names is preparing for his busiest night of the year! That's right, we're in December and many people are counting down the days until Christmas Eve.

Santa Claus, Father Christmas, St Nicholas, whatever name you call him by has been checking his "Naughty or Nice" list and making sure his reindeers are well fed before the big event.

Everyone knows that Santa lives in the North Pole, or somewhere near the North Pole as the elvish magic hides it's exact location... and he & Mrs. Claus and the Elves make presents for children around the world to receive on Christmas Day!

Santa Claus is a very busy man, he reads all the letters children send him and replies to those that remember to put an address on the letter. He oversees the upkeep of his reindeer and looks after all the elves. Then of course he visits children on St Nicholas's day, leaving sweeties in the shoes of those who have been good, and coal in those who have been naughty!

Then there is the big event where he has to use magic to stop time, shrink the gifts into one bag and magically transport himself down the chimney (if you don't have a chimney then he uses your living room window), leaving gifts for good boys and girls around the world.

Wednesday will be St Nicholas's day (see the blog about St Nicholas's day here) as it's his birthday! So don't forget to leave out a shoe, so that he can let you know if you've been naughty or nice.

Also, on Christmas Eve itself you can track Santa with the help of NORAD http://www.noradsanta.org/en/track.html who keep watch over him on Christmas Eve to make sure all their planes stay out of his way!
